2010 Australasian Schools Cycling Cup
The Australasian Schools Cycling Cup is pleased to announce an exciting partnership with the 2010 UCI Road World Championships to be held in Melbourne and Geelong in September next year.
The coveted Rainbow Jersey of the Road World's is one of the most sought-after prizes in cycling, where the world's best cyclists have the opportunity to ride for glory for their country.
Hosting the Championships is a coup for Victoria, being the first time it has been held in the Southern Hemisphere.
In his capacity on the Organising Committee for the Road World's, former-professional cyclist and the first Australian to wear the yellow jersey of the Tour de France, Phil Anderson was pleased to endorse the partnership.
"We see this event (ASCC) as a really nice fit with the lasting impression that the Road World's will create," Anderson said. "The Championships will show-case the sport of cycling at the very top level, while the Schools' Cup allows kids to compete in their very own professional cycling event."
As part of the partnership, the team members of the winning schools in each division in 2010 will be hosted in a VIP area at the U23 Male Road Race, with a visit from the senior Australian cycling stars.
As well, commemorative World Championship jerseys will be awarded to each of the discipline winners in 2010.
However, you don't have to still be at school to be involved, with the announcement of a "Cycling Collegian" program, where ex-students can facilitate the entry for their old school. For details of the program and the ASCC please visit the event website.

Australasian Schools Cycling Cup - Event Details:
- Dates: 23-25 March, 2010
- Location: Dookie - east of Shepparton, approx 2.5 hrs north of Melbourne
- Eligibility: Entry must be through your school - there is no minimum or maximum number of entries.
- Categories: Snr Male (Yrs 10, 11, 12); Snr Female (Yrs 10, 11, 12); Jnr Male (Yrs 7, 8, 9) Jnr Female (Yrs 7, 8, 9)
- Disciplines: Individual Time Trial (Road); Road Race (Road); Hill Climb (Road); Teams Time Trial (min 3 riders) (Road); Cross Country (MTB); Downhill (MTB); BMX
- Entries: On-line entry will be open January 28, 2010
