Operational Arrangements
General Responsibilities
MTBA’s affiliation with CA has established a relationship of cooperation between the two bodies to develop mutually beneficial programs, projects and cycling activities at local, state and national levels. These programs, projects and activities comprise part of CA’s mission to serve the interests of all cyclists and more specifically in regard to MTBA’s mission, the management and development of mountain biking.
CA and MTBA remain as independent incorporated associations and have a legal responsibility to govern their own respective organisations in accordance with their respective Constitution and By-Laws.
CA is recognised as the peak governing body for all competitive disciplines of cycling within
MTBA is the national body invested with a role in governing and managing domestic mountain bike activity in
MTBA has undertaken on behalf of its members to adopt and otherwise comply with, a number of key policies as enacted by CA. These currently include, but are not limited to:

Code of Conduct

Anti-Doping Policies of the UCI and CA; and

Member Protection Policy
Insurance
The scope of all insurance cover (Public Liability, D&O, Personal Accident, etc) will be the responsibility of the body under whose authority the respective event is being conducted, ie CA or MTBA. Therefore it is important to understand the need to be appropriately licensed (including day permits, when allowed) by that organisation to participate in their events.
Licensing and Membership
CA and MTBA have agreed that a concession will be given to members from either entity seeking to acquire a licence with the other.
CA and MTBA have agreed that a rider need only be a member of one club (recognised by or affiliated with, CA or MTBA) when acquiring a membership licence with both entities
CA and MTBA both require an existing member to have at least 3 months validity remaining on their primary membership before a concession on membership fees will be offered by the other entity.
A MTBA member will require a CA licence in the following circumstances:

To participate in road and track events conducted under CA’s authority

To accumulate UCI ranking points

To purchase an international licence to participate overseas
A CA member will require a MTBA licence to participate in domestic mountainbike events conducted under the authority of MTBA.
The Australian Mountainbike Championships will be conducted under the authority of MTBA.
The process for ‘Dual Membership’ is as follows:

Submit the completed membership form directly to CA together with a photocopy of your MTBA membership card and payment (cheque or credit card) details of required capitation. Make cheques out to Cycling Australia. (See Table ‘A’ below for fees) |

Coach and Officials Accreditation
Accreditation courses for coaches and officials under the NCAS and NOAS will be conducted under the authority of CA and are available to both CA and MTBA members (Fees apply). Maintaining accreditation will require the individual to retain currency of accreditation as well as membership of either CA or MTBA.
Liability cover for accredited personnel is the responsibility of the respective organisation under whose authority the event is being conducted. A member of one organisation may provide (coach/official) services for the other, providing their qualification is relevant.
