Amy Gillett Foundation

This section is dedicated to Amy Gillett, who was tragically killed in an accident in Germany on 18 July 2005.

The 29 year old champion cyclist was training with the five other members of the Australian team preparing for the start of the Thuringen Tour when a teenage driver lost control of her vehicle, veered across the road and ploughed into the group.

Amy's death is a terribly sad loss for her family and friends, and for all who knew her within the sports of cycling and rowing, in particular.  Our support and encouragement also goes to the five cyclists who were injured in the accident- Alexis Rhodes, Louise Yaxley, Katie Brown, Kate Nichols and Lorian Graham.

The establishment of the Amy Gillett Foundation amid this tragedy has been inspirational to many involved with cycling.  Click here  to read more about the Foundation and how you can help.
