COACHing

Coaching allows you to challenge your ability, communicate, plan, increase your knowledge and most of all, help others achieve their goals.

The Coaching and Development Department at Cycling Australia is the home of coach education for all cycling disciplines Road, Track, BMX and Mountain Bike (MTB) in Australia.

Become a Coach

Prior to becoming an accredited coach and undertaking any of the coaching courses please review the pre-course requirements below:

Membership

Coaches must hold membership with the discipline they intend to coach, including Cycling Australia, Mountain Bike Australia or BMX Australia. A Non-Riding, Social or Non-Competitive Membership is satisfactory for course attendance, post-course coaching hours as a trainee, and coach accreditation.

First Aid Certificate

Participants may attend a coach course if they provide proof they are enrolled to attend a First Aid course within the near future. However, there is no insurance coverage as a coach or trainee coach until they have formalised their First Aid certification. First aid courses are available through various organisations including:
Australia Wide First Aid
· St John's Ambulance
· Australian Red Cross

Working With Children Check (WWCC)

Coaches must hold a WWCC relevant to the State/Territory in which they will be coaching. If a state or territory is not issuing checks, proof of attempt to gain must be submitted to the coaching department, and a Volunteer Declaration will be issued for the coach to sign and return.
