Coaching Tools: Australian Institute of Sport myBikeSetup

The new AIS myBikeSetup aims to reduce potentially conflicting recommendations from ad hoc bike fitting servicing currently available to Australia's cyclists.

Cycling performance and a cyclist's risk of injury are strongly correlated to cycling biomechanics. Because a cyclist's riding position largely determines riding biomechanics, the fit between cyclists and their bikes determine cycling performance and injury risk.

Depending on the athlete, their experience in the sport and their access to bike fitting experts, riding positions range from highly optimised to positions that increase the risk of injury and decrease performance potential.

  Coach Accreditation

Cycling Australia conducts four levels of coaching courses. The courses that form the four levels are delivered under the strict guidelines of the National Coach Accreditation Scheme (NCAS), a program of the Australian Sports Commission (ASC). All accredited Cycling Australia cycling coaches are recognised as having met the standards under the NCAS, which are recognised by the Commonwealth and State / Territory governments and International Cycling Union (UCI).
