Willoughby & Buchanan to headline Supercross final
Australia's Olympian's Sam Willoughby and Caroline Buchanan will headline the field of the world's top BMX racers in Abbotsford, BC Canada for the final event of the UCI Supercross World Cup series.
45 Men and 17 women will contest the two-day event with London 2012 Olympic Games silver medallist and reigning world champion Sam Willoughby a hot favourite in the men's event.
Willoughby, who currently leads the UCI individual rankings, will battle against the likes of Supercoss series leader Connor Fields (USA).
Twan Van Gendt (NED), local favorite Tory Nyhaug (CAN) plus Australians Anthony Dean, Brian Kirkham and Bodi Turner will also challenge for the win.
Widely tipped for the overall female title is Caroline Buchanan who leads both the UCI rankings and the Supercross standings.
However she is expected to face tough opposition from reigning world champion Magalie Pottier (FRA), who currently lies just 100 points behind Buchanan on the series standings, plus Olympic bronze medalist Laura Smulders (NED).
London Olympian Lauren Reynolds and Rachel Jones will also contest the final.
The UCI BMX Supercross World Cup is the premier BMX racing series in the world and features four events per year.
This is the first Supercross event to be held in Canada, with the Abbotsford Track to feature the Time Trials and seeding runs on Friday, with fans to enjoy the action-packed BMX motos on Saturday.
